MUREWA Kurirai Rodney Matonga Zowa born and raised in Murehwa is set to release an Extended Play (EP) on the 1st of July at Ela in the Garden in Newlands, Harare.
Country-Folk Rock singer and songwriter will release a trilogy, “Conversations – The Prelude”.
The EP was recorded during this year’s Easter Holiday.
“The triology is inspired by conversations I had with my late grandmother, Anna”, reveals the soft spoken Zowa.
The theme of the record follows a storyteller aspect to suit the conversations between Zowa and his late grandmother.
“I will utilise the EP launch to pivot my career for a bigger stage”, said an ambitious Zowa.
The launch of the EP will not be a solo act as an art exhibition will lead to Zowa’s performance.
Zowa’s EP launch will follow a conversation narrative.
Besides art display, spoken word artists will infuse and perform alongside Zowa so as to create a “conservative” atmosphere.
Zowa found his sound in vinyl records and casette tapes that were introduced to him by his father at a tender age.
“My music have Don Williams infuence as he was my inspiration growing up”, Zowa said.
Chioneso Maraire, Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mutukudzi locally and Lindsey Buckingham and Steve Nicks internationally have a major impact on the artist’ musical life.
Zowa boasts of several singles, 4 EPs and 1 LP and more than 200 unrecorded songs.
