16 September 2023 will mark precisely 29 years when there was UFO sighting outside Ruwa here in Zimbabwe.
Ariel School was the place of a mass UFO sighting in 1994 when 62 children claimed to have seen an alien spacecraft and figure land on a field behind their playground.
The children were aged between six and 12 when they gave their accounts of what happened on the day.
An academician, scholar and political analyst, Dr Ibbo Mandaza’s daughter Robyn was part of the 62 who witnessed the UFO at Ariel.
Mandaza is qoutted on twitter recently saying, “… And my daughter witnessed the event at Ariel School.
An amazing spectacle about which I remain spellbound to this day”.
Nearly three decades ago, the pupils claimed they saw a disc-shaped craft land from the sky and stop in a field outside their school.
The pupils then said that the landing took around 15 minutes as they saw an object lower from the sky onto the field behind the school’s playground.
It was claimed the aliens communicated an ecological warning to the students that humans must stop polluting the planet or the world would end.
What are the effects of alien species?
Invasive species are capable of causing extinctions of native plants and animals, reducing biodiversity, competing with native organisms for limited resources, and altering habitats.
This can result in huge economic impacts and fundamental disruptions of coastal and Great Lakes ecosystems.
How do invasive species affect human health?
These invasive species can negatively impact human health by infecting humans with new diseases, serving as vectors for existing diseases, or causing wounds through bites, stings, allergens, or other toxins according to Mazza et al. 2013.
What would be an example of economic loss due to invasive species?
The economic and social impacts of invasive species include both direct effects of a species on property values, agricultural productivity, public utility operations, native fisheries, tourism, and outdoor recreation, as well as costs associated with invasive species control efforts.
What is UFO?
Unidentified flying object (UFO) or unexplained aerial phenomenon, is any perceived aerial phenomenon that cannot be immediately identified or explained.
Upon investigation, most UFOs are identified as known objects or atmospheric phenomena, while a small number remain unexplained.
While unusual sightings have been reported in the sky throughout history, UFOs became culturally prominent after World War II, escalating during the Space Age.
Studies and investigations into UFO reports conducted by governments (such as Project Blue Book in the United States and Project Condign in the United Kingdom), as well as by organisations and individuals have occurred over the years without confirmation of the fantastical claims of believers.
The U.S. government currently has two entities dedicated to UAP (or UFO) data collection and analysis: NASA’s UAP independent study team and the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office.
Scientists and skeptic organizations such as the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry have provided prosaic explanations for UFOs, namely that they are caused by natural phenomena, human technology, delusions, and hoaxes.
Small but vocal groups of ufologists favour unconventional or pseudoscientific hypotheses, often claiming that UFOs are evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence, technologically advanced cryptids or interdimensional contact, but even after decades of promotion of such ideas by believers and in popular media, the kind of evidence required to solidly support such claims has not been forthcoming.
Beliefs surrounding UFOs have inspired parts of new religions even as social scientists have identified the ongoing interest and storytelling surrounding UFOs as a modern example of folklore and mythology understandable with psychosocial explanations.
NASA: FORMER CHIEF SCIENTIST DISCUSSES ALIEN LIFE
After the alleged sighting, news of the incident spread and was covered by BBC War Correspondent Tim Leach.
Psychiatry expert Dr John Mack of Harvard University heard about the event and interviewed the witnesses.
After speaking to the children Dr Mack concluded that their accounts were credible.
The children reported seeing at least one UFO and alien figure and even made drawings of what they saw.
The 1994 alleged UFO sighting in Zimbabwe adds to the growing list of potential alien sightings and could be a key moment in mankind’s search for extra-terrestrial life.
