Singer Ne-Yo called out parents who allow their children to undergo gender transitions stating that they have ‘forgotten’ their roles.
The American singer, Shaffer Chimere Smith, popularly known as Ne-Yo said he does not understand why parents allow their children to make “life-changing” decisions about their gender at a young age.
During an interview on VladTV, the singer shared his thoughts on why parents have “forgotten” their roles.
Ne-Yo said, “I feel like the parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is.
If your little boy comes up to you and says, ‘Daddy I wanna be a girl,’ you just let him rock with that?”
‘Miss Independent’ hit maker went on to say, “Where did he get that? If you let this 5-year-old little boy eat candy all day, he’s gonna do that.
Like, when did it become a good idea to let a 5-year-old, a 6-year-old, a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision?
When did that happen? Like, I don’t understand that.”
The Grammy winner said that he comes from an era where a “man was a man and a woman was a woman.”
“There was two genders and that’s just how I rocked,” he said.
“You could identify as a goldfish if you feel like, that ain’t my business.
It becomes my business when you try to make me play the game.
I am not gonna call you a goldfish.”
Ne-Yo is the father of seven children with two mothers.
The late former President of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe, seemingly from were Ne-Yo is getting his verse was against transgender and homesexulity.
Mugabe has been on record saying, “Animals are better off as they know who to mate with. Everyone knows what to do, even animals know which animal to mate with, goats know where to go, and cows know where to go too. We see donkeys all the time on top of each other, why can’t you humans do the same?”
In 2015 Zimbabwe’s former president, Mugabe used his turn to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York to descredit gay rights in the famous qoute “We are not gays”.
Recently, President Vladimir Putin made a crackdown on LGBT rights in Russia, as he signed into law that people can no longer change their gender by undergoing surgical procedures or hormone therapy.
The new legislation stipulates that any marriages in which one partner changed their gender will be annulled, and transgender people are barred from adopting children or becoming foster parents.
The initiators of the law said they wanted to protect cultural traditions and family values in the fight against same sex marriages.
After all, Ne-Yo seems to have people who share his mindset.
