MSU Faculty of Law Emerges Victorious at African Moot Court Championships

Midlands State University (MSU) Faculty of Law has been crowned African Champions in the 2024 African Regional Round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition held from the 22nd to the 24th of May 2024 in South Africa.

The Moot Court competition was organised by the International Institute of Space Law, South Africa.

Each year, law students from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Africa compete in the World Finals.

The MSU team will represent Africa at the 2024 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition World Finals to be held in Milan, Italy in October this year.

The team was represented by Watson Tonderai Somerai, Grace Rumbidzai Charumbira and Siphathisiwe Mitchel Lunga who put up a sterling performance in the competition to emerge as the African Champions once again, after being Champions in 2022 and second runner ups in 2023.

Watson Tonderai Somerai won the Best Oralist award in the competition.

MSU Law School’s awe-inspiring triumph in the competition has not only brought glory to MSU but has also marked a significant milestone for legal education in Africa.

The remarkable journey to the world stage by MSU Law School serves as a testament to their dedication, perseverance and unmatched talent in the realm of law.
